The weather has been gorgeous, and even though the sun is out, it’s a bit chilly up here in the mountains. The mornings always start off cold, and it heats up in the afternoon and the cold comes back to claim the end of the day.

The walk to Briancon was awesome. Had to climb up to just one col and the walk down to the town wasn’t too steep. I wasn’t expecting too see a big town, but Briancon was teeming with tourists, thanks to all the historic forts surrounding the old part of the town. After finding the tourist office, I got instructions on how to get to the campsite that was three kilometers off the trail. The only other option was a hotel, and I decided against it.

The campsite was one of those family campsites with a swimming pool and a playground, so there were kids running around making a lot of noise. Not my kind of camping, but I wasn’t going to complain. I mean, at least they had hot water.

Hot water is good for aching muscles and joints.
